Well, I’m not shooting any messenger. But I shall reiterate-
The plane did not break apart or break in half, on landing. Despite the headline in the article, even the text of the article goes on to say the breakup of the airframe occurred when it skidded of the runway.
Backed up by the video.
So, some questions.
Was it one hydraulics failure, or more? It’s a B757. There are 3 systems, with levels of redundancy assured in the design.
One of many questions which will be asked is how would the loss of one (or even two) systems result in the aircraft departing the runway after landing?
The airport did not appear to be expecting a more serious incident.
The runway is quite long; even though it’s at 3000’, the runway is over 3000m long.
As quite often happens, the initial information results in more questions, not less.
But the aircraft is all in one place, albeit with more gaps than normal. So the ‘black boxes’ should be readily accessible.
The crew are apparently fine.
Fortunately, a very different scenario to the one which spawned this thread.
Hopefully, answers will be forthcoming fairly quickly. But then, we’re still awaiting the final report from an accident in the UK some 15months ago.
Quite why Guest(!J4mHaOEtg6) thinks (some hysterics, there) this would warrant the shut down of Boeing is anyones guess.
