Can you please stop talking about passenger planes nose diving into the ground please, as I'm flying back to Blighty for the weekend tomorrow.

My first post on here, so Hi!
Plus, as the topic isn’t really running over on the other channel, I thought I’d chip in here and see what happens.
The Newstalk article quoted earlier started off ok, and then had input from this Sally Gethin person from a ‘The Sun’ article (a newspaper which is only marginally worse than the daily mail) putting forward some cobbled together but otherwise unoriginal idea, inferring pilots becoming conscious again and almost taking control (because she’s been scouring the net and scraped up that Idea from other peoples Ill informed musings) but because she somehow managed to be accredited as a so-called aviation expert, she gets quoted.
Meanwhile, the actual experts in the matter are busy looking for the real answers, and have sufficient self restraint to not speak until they have something worth saying.
…And then in the same article, 5 short paragraphs about the completely unrelated issue (the Max). Why? Because they need something to give them a few more column inches? Padding.
As keen an interest as people may have, it’s typical and misleading bad journalism that sends people off down rabbit holes, and repeating half understood garbage as fact.
Sometimes, it makes pieman’s musings seem crystal clear.

Unwilling to fly Airbus again after the fuck up of making assorted components in different countries, and now Boeing with it's sudden dive scenarios, so fark that, I'd take a boat for a short trip instead.GMJS-440 wrote: ↑Thu Mar 24, 2022 9:00 pmYou're on an Airbus or Boeing?spitthedog wrote: ↑Thu Mar 24, 2022 8:49 pmCan you please stop talking about passenger planes nose diving into the ground please, as I'm flying back to Blighty for the weekend tomorrow.

AF447 an A330, and PK8303 an A320 made the news. And Airbus have been having a very big spat with Qatar over the A350.
There’s little doubt that Boeing have got things wrong, but airbus have also had some serious issues. The A350, which from a passenger perspective is a very comfortable experience is not free of problems.
I never worry about the plane itself, I worry about the carrier ... contrast:

The French are also entitled to drink half a bottle of wine at work lunch break iirc.

I heard that claim: If it's not Airbus ..... i"m takin the Bus more often in the past 2 years. Seems to make sense.
If jet planes were inexpensive, technical things, they would leave engineering decisions to engineers, and we would all be much safer. Unfortunately, ...
When managers only look 5 years ahead, a few poor decisions affecting safety will happen. When managers are fully focused only on next quarter and their next bonus, many poor safety design/maintenance decisions result. The last 8 years at Boeing, it seems, that's what happened. I hope both Boeing and Airbus learn, but, to be fair, either is better than taking a share taxi to Sihanoukville.
Back to the China Eastern crash, sounds like the pilots were Very experienced. I bet smoking in the w/c what done it.

Why has it got no wings or fin in that video?

Kind of unusual to see that kind of vertical nose diving?
You would think the wing or tail flaps would allow some sort of level of gliding, especially with the lighter planes these days.

They confirmed yesterday that the second black box was found. How long does it take to get some useful info from it?
