anyone famous in ur life?
My great Uncle:
"We are turning into a nation of whimpering slaves to Fear—fear of war, fear of poverty, fear of random terrorism, or suddenly getting locked up in a military detention camp on vague charges of being a Terrorist sympathizer." HST
My great great great uncle was in the IRA with Michael Collins. He died in the Easter rising.

My great uncle was seven feet tall and rolled around Cardiff on roller skates wearing a three piece suit with bowler hat while holding a duck's head umbrella. He was perhaps rightly considered a bit of an eccentric and the world is a less interesting or appealing place without him and those of his ilk.
The weird or quirky add a little color to life's often dull palette.

Fair play! I wonder what he would think lf he knew his sacrifice would be for an Ireland ruled from Brussels and Strasbourg.

He’d prefer that to the English.Fred Edwards wrote: ↑Wed Mar 23, 2022 1:15 pmFair play! I wonder what he would think lf he knew his sacrifice would be for an Ireland ruled from Brussels and Strasbourg.
Many Europeans went to Ireland to join the ranks and fight. “Your enemy is my enemy”.

So it wasn't just the English who had the monopoly on foreign fighters doing their dirty work.YaTingPom wrote: ↑Wed Mar 23, 2022 5:03 pmHe’d prefer that to the English.Fred Edwards wrote: ↑Wed Mar 23, 2022 1:15 pmFair play! So what was his relationship with the Welsh or Scottish? Was it only the English he rebelled against?

Romantic Cambodia is dead and gone. It's with McKinley in the grave.
I hate to tell you this, but the guy in my bathroom mirror is very famous.

There’s 800 years of conflict.
Northern Ireland was populated with English and a lot of Scottish protestants and they were land owners in the Republic of Ireland, and treated the locals like scum. Lots of new laws brought in over time but still the English held power, until the locals started using violence.
It’s really complicated the history of Ireland.
The English actually had Irish fighting for them in the great wars on the premise they’d get land or rights back home. All lies.
