I love my school but I am here today because I would not call a boy a girl': Teacher who refused to use student's gender-neutral pronouns condemns 'insanity' as he is JAILED in Ireland
Enoch Burke was arrested yesterday morning for breaching a court order
The order barred him from teaching or being present at his Westmeath school
The dispute began over his refusal to address a transitioning student as 'they' rather than 'he', as requested by the student and their parents in May
He was later suspended, and refused to stay away from the school
After the ruling, Mr Burke said: 'I love my school, with its motto Res Non Verba, actions not words, but I am here today because I said I would not call a boy a girl'

Quod scripsi, scripsi
so he was put to jail for willfully breaching a court order to stay away from the school, and nothing else
Nobody insisted that he call a boy a girl either; he was requested to use "they"

Do British people ever use the word shambles to mean a meat market or a place of slaughter? The KJV Bible uses the word shambles in this way but I think most Americans only use the word to refer to a situation of great chaos/confusion.
1 Corinthians 10:25-26
King James Version
25 Whatsoever is sold in the shambles, that eat, asking no question for conscience sake:
26 For the earth is the Lord's, and the fulness thereof.
Do British people usually say 'in shambles' or 'in a shambles'?

He wasn’t jailed because he refused to call them by their preferred pronoun.
He was jailed because he wouldn’t stay away from school on full pay, pending an investigation.
It does all sound pretty silly but he does come across like a childish, belligerent sod. How would calling someone ‘they’ rather than ‘he’ have any impact on his religious beliefs?

Well on the one hand he shouldn't be allowing his religious beliefs to influence the institution's policies. On the other it's ridiculous to sent him to Mountjoy when repeat offenders ( burglars, thieves etc) are given suspended sentences.

I guess the repeat offenders might tell the judge that they won’t do it again - and there is a chance they might mean it. This fool said he was going back to school.Lucky Lucan wrote: ↑Tue Sep 06, 2022 5:17 pmWell on the one hand he shouldn't be allowing his religious beliefs to influence the institution's policies. Besides, prisons do not work and that’s a well known fact. Rehabilitation and tracking is the only answer, well, it isn’t but a complete change of social healthcare, upbringing and overhaul of the “system” is what’s really needed but that won’t happen.
Put a new offender in prison (not a Cat E or D either but a cat A or B) for two weeks then take them out and say “If you keep doing what you do you’ll end up in there for years”.
Two weeks is enough to shock anyone but after that they get institutionalised and used to the harsh lockup and no freedom. It’s human nature to adapt.
I’ve know meek and mild guys go on for small drug use come out a lot tougher and a different mind set. They inevitably go back inside.

Enoch( wonder who his father's hero was) Burke is no stranger to the courts. The evangelical preacher, with a degree in theology, along with 3 family members unsuccessfully sued to claim religious discrimination. Family members not a party to the suit needed to be removed from the courtroom.

The religious zealot was the subject of a lawful court order which he willfully disobeyed and then chose to represent himself not wanting to share his five minutes of fame. He is to appear again in court to have his incarceration reviewed on Wednesday this week.
Burke who claims homosexuality goes against his Church of Ireland upbringing may well get to enjoy a ritual played over and over in rectory halls all over Ireland for centuries. That of course is getting to spread the cheeks and use the Lord's name in vain.

It baffles me why so many posters both here and on TOF are so obsessed with what other people have in their pants.
This story and many others like it have absolutely fuck all to do with Cambodia or expats or anything else relevant to the forum, but regular as clockwork the same two or three tedious bigoted old shits will see them on the Daily Mail website and decide to regurgitate them here by way of a “see! Told you so! Those trans people are all sickos and the world is going to hell in a handbasket!”.
Y’all just come across as creepy obsessed old weirdos, just give it a rest.

This story isn’t against trans or gay it’s against a narcissistic religious nut job and the Irish courts seeing sense.
